LCM Traditional Summer Exams 2020 – update 22/5/20
The following are the options now offered to KSOM students for the Summer LCM Trad Exams (Please inform KSOM of your decision by 29th May):
Option 1. RECORDED EXAMS – available for Step & Grade 1 up to Grade 8
This option provides the opportunity for the assessment of musical performance whereby candidates upload a video of their performance to LCM’s newly developed secure platform, rather than attending an examination venue. Opting for a recorded exam means the student is assessed solely on performance, which can be recorded many times until they are happy with it.
This option is also cheaper than the face to face exam. Students would need to apply for this option themselves (a refund would be issued from KSOM for the fees already paid) and KSOM take no responsibility for the application. However, up to June 13th your teacher will provide support in preparation for the recording and KSOM will offer guidance & help where needed for the technical side of the application. This support and guidance is only available until 13th June. It is advised to upload your video before this date.
NB. It is important to note when applying for these exams you select “Irish Traditional (instrument)” FOR ALL EXAMS as LCM also examine classical/jazz etc. Ignore ‘Leisure play’ go for your Grade.

Option 2. POSTPONE
You may postpone your entry until the Winter session of face-to-face exams due to take place Nov – Dec. Depending on the number of students who opt to postpone, exams in the Winter may not be held at KSOM (possibly Cork/Limerick but may also be Tralee)
Option 3. REFUND
Option 4. ONLINE EXAMS (Video Link) – available for Step & Grade 1 up to Grade 4
These exams would follow exactly the same format as a traditional face-to-face exam but using a live, secure, online platform. Please note that the recorded exams (option 1 above) are also an option for Step 1 up to Grade 4..
